The Business Contracts Office is a service unit within Supply Chain Management and oversees business contracts for the Berkeley campus.  Core to our values is conducting our operations in a socially responsible manner to further the University's mission of teaching, research and public service. 

Please note that the Brand Protection Team is now part of the Strategic Communications office.  https://strategiccommunications.berkeley.edu/ The BP team provides guidance on trademarks and intellectual property.

What We Do

The Business Contracts Office (BCO) has the delegated authority to execute a wide variety of business contracts on behalf of the Berkeley campus.

  • BCO cannot process agreements or contracts related to:
    • Purchase of goods or services by the University;

    • Sponsored Projects for federal, state and non-profit sponsors;

    • Sponsored Projects with industry sponsors;

    • Data use or material transfers;

    • Leases or facility use permits;

    • Construction-related activities;

    • Gifts or Donations

  • The contracting offices that have the authority to enter into these types of agreements on behalf of the University are:
    • Supply Chain Management/Procurement;
    • Sponsored Projects Office (SPO)
    • Intellectual Property & Industry Alliance Office (IPIRA & IAO)
    • Capital Strategies
    • University Development and Alumni Relations (UDAR)
